After relocating back to my rural roots in Suffolk, I joined the wonderful GG team mid 2022 as a Project Manager, Garden Designer & Social & therapeutic horticulture specialist in our various delivery sectors including managing, Riduna Park, HMP Warren Hill, X-ON, Priory School. Originally academically trained in Journalism, for over a decade I gained extensive success in the capital as a freelance writer, editor, producer & photographer in a variety of national media including newspaper & magazines, radio, music & events PR, TV and documentary production.
Then pursuing my passion for ‘creative gardening’ and a career change I retrained in amenity horticulture & garden design entering my 30’s. Afterwhich, I delivered City & Guilds qualifications to offenders whilst managing a 30 acres open prison garden estate. Also launching a garden shop providing them valuable work experience prior to release. Seeking to progress further into the community gardening sector I became Garden Social Enterprise Manager at the homelessness charity Emmaus Brighton building an acclaimed community food garden and gardening retail outlets. I possess a Postgraduate Certificate Education at Master levels in teaching practical horticulture, and then excelled in FE as a Lecturer/ Programme Manager/ learning support specialist and also gained my L3 counselling qualification.
Most recently I have studied for the highest Diploma in Social & Therapeutic Horticulture to support my diverse professional portfolio in this essential emerging sector. I received a RHS silver medal for my first public show garden at Hampton Court Flower Show in 2006 and have been awarded multiple HMP performance recognition, community gardening/ garden design awards since for my contribution to the field I most love nurturing. Other lifelong passions include exploring my Ginger Greek heritage, ‘proper photography’, painting, poetic prose, garden art, upcycling, treehouses and wildlife conservation, especially red squirrels!
